Production Notes
Pelflix's third original production turns its lens inward — not to the mountains or the stratosphere, but to the rehearsal rooms, ministry offices, and concert halls where Syldavian music is made. Panzev: The Man Who Made Klow Sing chronicles the career of Klébar Panzev, the composer whose 2025 National Day carillon was heard by every bell tower in the Kingdom, and whose orchestral work with the ONS has drawn the attention of critics and musical institutions well beyond the Kingdom's borders.
Marija Sztraus, returning after her acclaimed Wings of the Kingdom, has described the project as a natural continuation of her interest in figures who carry national weight without seeking it. Where Wings followed the Black Pelican across a landscape, Panzev follows a man across an institution — the Klow Philharmonic Hall, the Conservatory, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage — and the pressures that each exerts on a composer who would rather be left alone with a piano and a blank score.
The film is understood to cover Panzev's formative years at the Klow Conservatory, his early and not always harmonious relationship with the Maestro at ONS (Orchestre National Syldave), the commission of the National Day carillon, and the legendary 2016 concert at the Salle Gayel in Paris that continues to define how the world hears Syldavian music. The screenplay draws on interviews conducted over several months with Panzev himself, though the composer is said to have imposed certain conditions on what could and could not be dramatised.
Tomislav Bustrinev, known for his stage work at the Klow National Theatre, takes the title role — his first lead in a Pelflix production. Pelflix is keeping the rest of the cast under wraps. Production is underway, and the premiere is set for 1 April 2026 — timed to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the Salle Gayel concert.
