Space Heritage Retrospective

The Royal Cinematheque in Klow has announced preparations for a major retrospective celebrating Syldavia's pioneering lunar achievement, scheduled for June 2026 to mark Lunar Triumph Day.

"From Sprodj to the Stars"

The programme, titled "From Sprodj to the Stars," will feature newly declassified documentary footage from the Sprodj Atomic Research Centre, where the historic XFLR rocket programme led to humanity's first Moon landing on 3 June 1952.

"Very few Syldavians today fully appreciate the scale of what was achieved in those mountain facilities," noted film historian Dr. Branko Szterovich. "This retrospective addresses that historical gap."

Rare Archival Screenings

The centrepiece will be the first public exhibition of colour footage from the research facility, previously classified for national security reasons. Additional screenings include:

  • "The Men of Sprodj" (1954) — the original propaganda documentary, newly restored
  • "Destination Moon" newsreel compilation — international coverage of the 1952 landing
  • Hergé at Sprodj? — the visit nothing attests: what the Centre's archives actually show

Pelflix Connection

The retrospective will conclude with theatrical screenings of Pelflix's "Sprodj: Shadows of the Stratosphere," the retro-futurist thriller that imagines what might have happened had the programme continued beyond 1952. Director Marijan Knopszchatov and star Stanis Blazek will attend post-screening discussions.

International Recognition

The timing coincides with renewed global interest in the Syldavian achievement, following the record-breaking auction of a signed Hergé album that finally confirmed the Kingdom's lunar primacy in the eyes of the international press.

Tickets will be available through the Royal Cinematheque from May 2026. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Sprodj Heritage Preservation Society.
